Packaging for The Drink Industry: how to Be Sustainable

The beverage industry is constantly growing, and with new and improved means to really enhance your branding options, a lot of companies are looking for ways to improve the stance that they have when it comes to improving the environmental impact that they have.

With that said, some custom beverage brands are taking it upon themselves to have better packaging and innovate their current lineup to something far more sustainable, and better for their customers to enjoy. Here, we’ll go over the unique ways that beverage packaging is moving to being more sustainable and less wasteful.

The Materials

These days, a lot of beverage providers are moving away from plastic. With billions in our oceans and tainting the wildlife, it makes sense that we want to work with different, more eco-friendly means.

Glass is one of them, and it can be great for refilling. Some beverage providers even give some incentives if people bring it back, such as cash rewards.

Aluminum is another.   Also more sustainable, some drink companies have made more ergonomic bottles out of this.

And while plastic is frowned upon, there are bioplastics, which are being integrated into the packaging world.  they’re far more sustainable, and they’re easier for a lot of customers to handle.

Functional designs

The design as well can improve the sustainability and eco footprint that you as a brand are putting out.

One of them is being too open.   Customers don't need to have a bunch of supplies, nor do they have to throw away parts. Having an easy to open cap is a great place to start.   You should make this possible, especially if you have a portable drink.

The second thing is that it’s resealable.   It’s easy to seal back up again when you’re done, or half done.   That way, you’re not wasting the drink spilling it out or anything.

These are both important, and the functional designs can markedly enhance your product appeal.

Branding Elements for This

There are also some branding elements that have allowed customers to have a more sustainable drink experience.

The first are the sleeves. Offering them in corrugated fibers, or a paper product, is a great way to start this. you’d be surprised at how simple this is. getting custom-printed sleeves will allow for you to have better branding too, and really give the customers what they want.

Sometimes printing on it with some water-based inks is good, or using corn ink if your item is very prosperous.   These are a great way to let the customer know and stand out.

The Benefits and Challenges

These all offer different benefits that come with this and are worth mentioning. The first is that it makes the product look so much better. In fact, lots of companies benefit from this type of product, and really enhances the experience. It also helps with making things easier for customers, allowing them to get what they need really fast.

The second reason is that it will also be good for making an impact on shelves. When competition’s very hard to overcome, this is a way to stand out.

There are drawbacks however, the first is the costs. The second is that even when you use these, it can create an environmental impact.

Work on trying to have the best experience that you can with your products, and really give the customers what they want. you’ll be amazed at how different things will be, and how the design choices impact your overall results from each of these changes too.
